About
About the Tokyo Convention & Visitors Bureau
As you walk through Tokyo, many traces of the Edo period remain, but they can be difficult to notice just by walking around. For instance, the layout of properties and road networks has changed very little since the Edo era. In other words, while the cityscape continues to evolve, the underlying structure remains intact.
We share the story of Tokyo, where the old meets the new. Our walking tours provide a sustainable and intellectually engaging travel experience, allowing visitors not only to enjoy modern Tokyo but also to explore its rich history. These tours offer an opportunity to deepen your understanding of the city and spark further interest in its fascinating past.
The Tokyo Convention & Visitors Bureau is an organization dedicated to promoting tourism in Tokyo. With the goal of making Tokyo a continuously chosen destination for travelers and business events from around the world, we work to attract visitors and enhance the city's appeal.

The tours available for booking on this site are supervised by the Hosei University Research Center for Edo-Tokyo Studies.
The Edo-Tokyo Research Center was established in 2017 as an institute within Hosei University, located in central Tokyo, with the aim of promoting international and interdisciplinary research on Edo and Tokyo. In order to understand modern Tokyo, it is essential to consider its unique history, including the Edo period and earlier eras, while also envisioning the city’s near future. From this perspective, experts in various fields such as architecture, literature, geography, history, and engineering are conducting daily research to create sustainable communities that can be passed on to the next generation.
